Jenny Mayher has a BA from Harvard College and an MA from Columbia Teacher's College. She has worked as a Children's Librarian since 2006.

Raising literate children is getting harder.  There is more advice out there than any one parent can filter.  As a children’s librarian and a mom myself, I have the good fortune of spending my days with books written for young people, and I have developed a few opinions.

Why add to the deafening noise about children’s books?  I have one simple goal: to light a path for families who want their kids to have access to good books but are overwhelmed by too many choices.

I cannot review every book, and I am not out to flag the Next Big Thing in Publishing or predict this year’s award winners.  The best I can hope is to be a friendly children’s librarian at an increasingly virtual library.
